His work is filled with details of delightful scenes and characters that may sometimes tell a story or describe a feeling. It's a little impressionism and surrealism but mostly it's uniquely Sergey Hrapov who has carved out his own niche in the art world.

Congratulations for the excellent website about you and your graphic work. It is a remarkable good survey of your artistic work and I very much like to mention what I already wrote before:
There are four main reasons why Sergey Hrapov can be considered as one of the best and most remarkable contemporary ex-libris artists: he is an excellent and talented designer, he has the limitless fantasy of a philosophical fairy tales narrator, his mastering of graphic techniques comes very close to perfection and he respects the link between bibliophile traditions and bookplate art, e.g. by the use of a usually good and always fine engraved ex-libris text. January 3, 2009.
Happy New Year Sergey. Delighted to see the website. A very useful reference for all of the ex libris community. Many greetings also to all of our mutual friends from L'viv. I must try to figure out a way to make a return visit between my other projects and medical procedures. Hopefully I will manage t come to Europe for the DEG or Malbork. Yes, these tired old faces keep looking at us from the mirrors while in our mind's eye our self-images are left from somewhere in the past when we were robust and more healthy. This past summer I visited the neighborhood of my childhood for the first time in decades. Much is changed, but, in particular, everything had grown smaller. I could not imagine that the tiny playground of my school could have been big enough for all the games we played there. What I remember as grand avenues had become narrow streets. So, on the positive side, we have outgrown the physical smallness of our childhoods, but the mental narrowness as well. I would not give up all I have come to know and understand of the world for smallness and simplicity of childhood. Henry Klein |
